Tithing is always a touchy subject. The question asked is "how much should I keep?" We know that everything is God's; everything that we have is his. Therefore, how much should we keep and how much should we give and is tithing a law? We know that God designed that we give to the mission, but is it a law that we give the traditional 10%?
On the show we also discuss the busy week. How are we to respond to the election and people's reactions to it?

Friday Preview, we discuss the election and sports.
This episode is coming out on Monday, one day before the most dreaded election in modern history. I have yet to meet a person who feels good about any candidate in the election. For conservative Christian, we can say in good faith, that we do not have a good choice, so what do we do? Our friend and Pastor, Dr. Chris Griggs, who preached one of the best sermons we have heard on politics, comes on to help us sorts this out. His sermon can be heard here, Denver Baptist iTunes. It was delivered on October 30th.
On today's episode, Chris helped us think through three "planks" that Christians should vote on. One is life, but not just the womb, but from womb to tomb. Secondly, religious freedom. Lastly, he spoke on law, and how those candidates view the law.

Come and hear Kemp's platform for the REAL Party 2016.
We had a special guest for this FP, check it out.
The Laymen spend a lot of time studying the Bible. We believe that to know God, you must be in his word. God revealed himself in the Bible so that we may know his character. In that, we can know his grace, love, mercy, patience and so much more. All the attributes of God can be known through his word. Recently a pastor was quoted in saying that his church exists so that a person may experience God. He continues by saying that we do not need to study God, we only need to experience him. We were all in agreement that is a false statement.

Tonight's coffee was brought to us by a dear friend Dan Henderson. His daughter is a missionary overseas and when he was visiting her, he bought this coffee for us. For that, Dan, thank you. After listening to the show, you will know why he is now off the hook from buying us coffee again.

In this Friday preview we discuss the upcoming show coming out on Monday, and we have a lot of fun doing it.
In the Baptist faith, potluck is a word that everyone wants to hear. A potluck meal is where people bring different dishes to a group dinner. It is one of the best times of fellowship for any Baptist. We come, we talk, we discuss, and well...we eat. The best part is that every person brings their best dish, and we eat well.
This episode is much like a potluck meal. We discuss a wide array of topics including, deacons, the ECU Band, HB2, and so much more. Come and listen and enjoy.

In this episode we had the great privilege of interviewing Pastor Douglas Wilson. If you do not know Pastor Wilson, you should. He is the Pastor at Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho. He writes a blog, Blog & Mablog, at https://dougwils.com. You can find many of his videos on youtube, including a debate he did with the late Christopher Hitchens. He also has authored more books than can be mentioned here. One you should check out is "Rules for Reformers."
It was a great honor to discuss certain topics with Pastor Wilson. He grew up as a Southern Baptist, and is now a reformed Presbyterian. We discussed his church, his views of education and much more.

You can hear the excitement in our voice. When we recorded this, we just got off the phone with our "Big Fish." Come and listen to hear who it is.
Kemp's back! If one person could have two contrasting weeks, Kemp sure did. He spent a week on the mission field, and had an amazing time and saw God work in incredible ways. Then he came home to one of the hardest weeks he ever had in his professional career. We spent time listening to his stories and testimonies.
Please pray for our beloved city of Charlotte. We all live about forty-five minutes outside of Charlotte, but if you ask us, we are from Charlotte. It is the city we love, the city we work in, and the city we recognize as home. It is hurting, and so are we. Especially pray for Kemp, whose career is protecting Charlotte.

In this episode we discuss our presumptions verses evidence. Specifically, what we are discussing is two types of apologetics. We have discussed apologetics before on the show. It is a study of defending our faith. Evidential apologetics uses the evidence of the world to prove that God exists, and that the Bible is true. If you have never studied this discipline, it is very interesting. Presumption apologetics uses our assumption of our faith to prove Christianity. For example, we believe that the Bible is God's Word and we will use scripture to prove that God exists.
Both of these disciplines are important, and both have its position in evangelism. If you are interested in the evidence side, look up Frank Turek, Alex McFarland and Norman Giesler. If you are interested in the presumption side, look up Douglas Wilson, Apologia Radio, and James White.

In today's preview we discuss Monday's show, and football with the Redheaded Ringer.
In this show we discuss college life and marriage. What defines a marriage? At what point are two people considered married? Is it when you have a ceremony, or is it after you consummate the marriage? There are two types of marriages in this one. One is defined by the state, the other is defined by the Bible. Are the two the same?
In the episode we have a conversation with a group at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. A young lady and gentlemen who are starting a podcast called "the needle." The purpose of the podcast is to discuss college life and the Gospel. It was interesting to discuss the lives of college students who are on fire for Christ and seek to glorify Christ with everything they do.

There is a lot in the media today worthy of discussion. In "Football and the Glory of God," we first discuss Colin Kaepernick. How should we respond to him protesting the American Flag? Kaepernick is a backup quarterback for the San Fransisco Forty-Niners. He has decided to protest by sitting down during the National Anthem. He is doing this because of the oppression of the African-American people in the United States. As Christians, what is our proper response?
We left that conversation to then discuss the Glory of God. How much of the Glory of God can we know? A.W. Pink said that when we see the power of God, he hides more of his Glory than he reveals. How amazing is the idea that what we can see of God, there is infinitely more that is hidden? Yet, it is even more amazing that he will seek us out and save us.

On the Friday Preview we discussed football, Jesus and up coming trips.
As Christians, we are in a political nightmare. This show describes the Christian's political plight. We have several options for this election. One, is to not vote. For most of us, this is not a real option. We believe it is our duty as faithful men and women to exercise our right to vote. Another view is to vote for one of the two candidates that we have. One view that is discussed is for us to vote for Trump. Even though we cannot vouch for his character, this view says he is the only true option that we have, because having Clinton as president would destroy this country. The other option that is discussed is to vote either third party or for a write in candidate. Ones who hold to this belief say that they are going to vote for a person they believe has character, and it does not matter if they have a chance to win. Either option you think is best, there is one thing for sure, we are in trouble.

On this Friday Preview we discuss the upcoming episode on politics. We then discuss beards, and proper care for them.
What is required to be saved? We know that Jesus did all the work on the cross to provide salvation for us, but how much knowledge does a person need to know to be saved? There is a term in theology called "Inclusivism." People who hold to this view point believe that a person can be saved through general revelation. This idea states that if a person goes outside and says "what a beautiful creation, there must be someone who created it," that is enough knowledge to save them. As long as there is faith in God, that alone can save them.
In this episode we discuss the problems with Inclusivism. We believe that a person cannot be saved without the knowledge of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that no one is going to be saved unless they are a part of the elect, and if they are the elect, God will be able to get the gospel to them. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13

In this episode we had at the privilege of discussing oneness with God, with Dave Hickman, the author of Closer than Close: Awakening to the Freedom of Your Union with Christ. Dave went to Montreat College where he received his B.A. in Bible and Religion and then received his MDIV from Gordon-Conwell Seminary. He is the founder of Charlotte/One which empowers local churches to reach out to the 20-30 something group. You can find more about him at davehickman.org.
The book Closer than Close: Awakening to the Freedom of Your Union with Christ discusses the relationship we have with God. Dave was told as a child that one must have a relationship with Christ, and that he needed to be close with God, but no one told him what close was. In the book he discusses how one needs to have a union with Christ. Striving to have a relationship with him causes a work based relationship. Go, and check out the website and read the book.

In today's Friday Preview we discuss an upcoming interview with Dave Hickman, author of Closer than Close. Dave is very passionate about being one with God. Also, football is back.
It is so important to be able to contend for the faith. The last few weeks we had some great conversations with guys who believe differently then us. In this show we spend sometime discussing these interviews. First, were the Texans at http://douloicristou.com. These were two guys who write a blog, and went on a journey from Calvinism to Arminianism. They believe that if a person has faith in God through general revelation, that they can be saved. After the interview Wes spent time reading their "Master Plan." Wes has written a rebuttal to their arguments, that will soon be posted to our blog.
Next, we had a great time discussing the difference between Christianity and the Nation of Islam. We had a great time talking to Yusuf Muhammad about the differences and what we believe the Bible says. There are huge differences in what we believe, and what we believe the Bible to says about the chosen people of God. We had a great time discussing with these guys, and great engagement from it.
